My husband and I have been involved in natural health and green living for a long time. During my pregnancy with twins a few years ago, I was compelled to learn even more about the best way to help my children avoid the health conditions that I had seen in so many.
As an acupuncturist, I am used to helping people regain their health. But with my children, I wanted them to begin life on the right track - with as few toxins and with the most health possible. I had been preparing my body and eating organic foods exclusively for a considerable amount of time and began researching natural options for a healthy nursery. I was shocked at how difficult it was to track everything down and get everything ready in time.
I researched my options in order to avoid poisons like mercury, arsenic, formaldehyde and others that are often in children's products. I was astounded at all the products for babies and kids that have chemicals and/or heavy metals that can cause or contribute to birth defects, neurological damage, breathing difficulties, hormone imbalance, and other major health issues.
Our home had already been remodeled using natural, green products. In comparison, it was definitely more difficult to find everything for an organic nursery. Thankfully, it has become easier a little in the last two years.
As a society, we are learning the importance of living harmoniously with the earth. When we poison the earth, we end up poisoning our own bodies and our children's bodies. This has devastating consequences for people of all ages.
